Applying for Aid

File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

This is the first step to establishing eligibility for all federal and state student aid programs as well as CCC need-based aid.

Complete your FAFSA online

How to create an FSA ID

The FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID) is a username and password you create to access the FAFSA and federal student loan websites. It will also serve as your signature for the FAFSA and federal student loans.

Follow these steps to get your FSA ID. If you’re a dependent student, you and a parent will each need one.

  1. Create an account before you start your FAFSA.
Provide your email address and create a username and password. Print this page. Both you and a parent will need active email accounts. Don’t use a high school email account.
  2. Enter personal information.
Name, Social Security number, date of birth
Mailing address, email address, mobile phone number
  3. Answer challenge questions. Select answers that are easy to remember and won’t change over time.
  4. Submit your FSA ID information and verify your email address and mobile phone number with the assigned security code.

The FAFSA can be filed any time after October. 1 for the next school year. Be sure to select the correct academic year. CCC’s school code number is 014468. This number is used for all Central Community College campuses and learning centers.

To qualify for the maximum need-based funding, complete your FAFSA by April 1.

We will contact you via email if verification is required

Once we receive the results of your FAFSA, we will contact you to let you know if supporting documents are needed to complete your file. These could include federal tax return transcripts, W-2s, verification worksheets or other forms that may be necessary to confirm your FAFSA data. Your aid will not be awarded until all requested documentation is received.

Financial Aid Award Notification

Once your file is complete, an award notification will be sent to you. This information will direct you to access your awards in WebCentral, or you may receive information to apply for a student loan.

Financial Aid Appeal Process

Students having special circumstances that affect their aid eligibility have the right to file an appeal to make the financial aid office aware of their particular situation.  Please contact the aid office at the appropriate campus to request information on how to file any type of appeal (i.e., academic progress, cost of attendance, income adjustments, etc.).
